Studio Resistance Instructor

This qualification comprises of 2 mandatory units:

Unit 1- Group Teaching Skills

Unit 2- Instructing Studio Resistance Training

Successful achievement of both units must be achieved for the full qualification.

Are there any Prerequisites?

To enrol onto the Studio Resistance Instructor course you need to hold a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (QCF) qualification or any qualification within the Physical Activity Advisor category on REPs, for example Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Walking. This qualification does not provide entry to REPs

How will I be assessed?

To achieve the qualification you must complete and pass the following:

  • Worksheets
  • Practical Observation and Evaluation

For the practical you are required to teach a class consisting of 6 – 12 participants. You are required to bring along class participants for your practical assessment if attending a face-to-face practical assessment. You may submit your practical assessment by DVD. Guidelines for this are given on request of DVD submission.

Is there a charge for re taking a part of my assessment?

There will be a £50.00 charge for practical reassessments

This course enables you to work with one of our tutors in a classroom environment. The course will be held over 2 days. 1 training day and 1 assessment day. The days are spaced to ensure enough time for your to study and prepare.Your tutor will support you continually throughout your course.  You will be provided with all your course resources and revision aids.This is a great way to learn as you are working to set dates in a set time frame. SMART Qualifications is an approved training provider for YMCA Awards and Active IQ. On achieving the assessment process and the quality assurance process is completed your nationally recognised certificate will be processed. On certification you gain 16 Continual Development Points (CPD)

Studio Resistance Instructor Course

This course is for those who hold a Fitness Instructor qualification and want to qualify as a studio Studio Resistance Instructor. This qualification allows you to teach studio based Studio Resistance classes whilst using your own chosen music and be creative with choreography.

Progression

Once qualified this qualification will allow you to move onto the Step Instructor course. This will allow you to give advice and design plans for your class participants.

The Studio Resistance Course is really good, it was easy to follow and the practical class was great.  I love Bodypump classes so found the resistance class to be quite similar to it, at least both working towards the same muscle groups.
